post-rock

is a vague term coined/popularised by simon reynolds circa 1993 to describe a nebulous category of rock and rock-adjacent music which broke the genre's typical compositional and instrumental conventions, focusing on texture and timbre over riffs and standard song structures while incorporating influences from a wide array of styles not typically associated with rock, ranging from analogue and digital electronics to contemporary jazz and classical music and beyond.

this is a website created by april in order to describe and explore post-rock in all its iterations :)
